Cookie policy

Short version: the Sali website does not set any cookies, and it does not use advertising or cross-site tracking. This page explains what it does instead.

Cookies and local storage

By default we store nothing on your device. The only thing we ever store is described below, and only if you say yes.

• sali_consent (localStorage, up to 12 months): remembers whether you accepted or declined, so we don’t keep asking. Strictly necessary.
• sali_vid (localStorage, 12 months, only if you click Accept): a random ID with no personal details, which lets us tell when the same browser comes back, so we can count repeat visits and how often people return.

You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. Choosing it removes the ID from your browser straight away.

Analytics

We run our own privacy-friendly analytics so we can see how the site is used and improve it. When you visit, your browser sends us:

• The pages you view, and the site you came from (domain only).
• What you click, and how far you scroll down each page.
• How long each part of a page is on screen, and how long you are actively engaged.
• Your device type, browser, operating system and screen size.
• Your nearest city and country, worked out from your IP address.

Your IP address is used only to work out that approximate location and to create a one-way hash that lets us count unique visitors for a single day. The hash is rotated daily, so unless you accept the banner we cannot recognise you from one day to the next or follow you across sites. If you accept, your random ID is also sent with these events (hashed again on our server) so we can link your visits together. We do not store your IP address, and we never record anything you type into a form.

Analytics data is stored with our database provider, Supabase. To find your approximate location, your IP address is sent to a geolocation lookup service, ipwho.is, which only returns a city and country.

We respect your browser’s Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control settings: if either is switched on, the analytics script does nothing.

Sign-up form

If you ask to be notified about pre-orders, we store your email address, first name (if you give it), the date, the page you signed up on and the consent wording you agreed to, so we can email you. You can unsubscribe from any email, or ask us to delete your details, at any time.

Fonts

The site loads its typeface (Archivo) from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers and Google receives your IP address when the page loads. Google Fonts does not set cookies for this.
